Using Social Media as part of your Digital Marketing Strategy
For me, Social Media is one of the most important strategies when it comes to Digital Marketing: in any industry where you provide a service, it’s vital to tell a story, and Social Media helps you build that while interacting with your potential clients and creating community.
Although this, be careful! Social Media can be a double-edged sword as you are also allowing your visitors to give their opinion, so you have to be very careful that the message you are sending equals the service you are giving, as the inconsistencies in this space are really penalized.
21 Buttons in Spain, is a tech-fashion start-up that has lived both scenarios: They created a Social Media strategy really impactful and according to their culture, inspiring quality and sense of community. Their revenue model is commissioning the transactions in their application between retailers and shoppers, so Digital presence is everything for them:
The best thing that they did was partnering with influencers, but something bad happened: Some of the fashion products announced by them were different when their arrived: lowest quality and even different appearance, so people became really angry, felt hustled and expressed their rage in Social Media.
Besides this case where we can learn a lot from, what I would consider as an impactful Social Media post is combining something visual such as a colorful image and short text, that represents a message that you want to send and creates engagement.
To increase the reach of an organic post, you can recommend viewers to share or tag someone, in exchange of a discount, promo, raffle... The trick is consistency: both in style (patterns, colors, type of posts) and time (creating a calendar for every platform.

Hi! Great post this week. I totally agree - social media is crucial to the digital marketing strategy but it also has its risks. I suppose that give the platforms allow you to get your messages out to the world quickly you can rectify / apologise in good time but reputation could still be damaged in the long run. I can see now why most organisations now have a dedicated digital marketing manager. Good use of images and videos. Looking forward to the next one! Ciara
